A Harmonious Journey Through Popular Music
Since its formation in 2010, Next Stage Choir has celebrated a rich tapestry of musical styles. From stage and screen to pop anthems, country and classical masterpieces, our repertoire is designed to inspire and engage performers and audiences alike. Learning music and learning how to sing with passion and precision is at the root of Russell Scott's direction. We use full vocal scores, not just lyric sheets, and there are lots of resources to help learning including regular online technical sessions. Singing at Next Stage Choir is not just about being in the choir, it's about learning new skills, techniques and consistent musical development.

Join us in 3 locations
At Next Stage Choir, we perform together whilst rehearsing across three locations: Marlow, St Albans, and Aylesbury.
Members have the option to attend rehearsals up to three times a week, providing total flexibility and enhancing learning opportunities.
Our sessions are directed by Russell Scott and are crafted to be engaging and productive, ensuring every member feels valued and inspired.
The choir rehearses throughout the year, not just in term time, with around 40 weekly 2-hour rehearsals,
plus workshops, joint rehearsals, project rehearsals and socials, meaning great value!

The choir is made up of around 120 singers, who love to learn, to perform and share great times together. There's a great social scene within the choir and lots of time to make new friends.
Taster Sessions are held regularly in all 3 locations. You can come along, meet the choir, join us in the rehearsal and get a taste for the amazing music we make together. Our musical director, Russell Scott, will then walk through everything you need to know about membership and how to join.
The choir is open to all adults across all voice parts, no matter your age or experience.

London Sangerstevne Festival and Waddesdon Manor, as well as local churches, outdoor events and festivals.

Joining our choir is simple! Just attend one of our taster sessions to see if it's for you. We welcome singers of all abilities. Click Here to book now.
To join the choir you need to be able to listen, pitch and harmonise. So, after your initial Taster Session, we ask you schedule a short 1-2-1 voice review with our Musical Director prior to joining. There is nothing to prepare. It takes around 5-10 mins and will involve some straight-forward pitch, listening and harmonic tests to ensure you are able to meet the standards we require. We understand many people get very nervous about auditions, however we are not here to make things difficult for you – we want you to feel relaxed and enjoy singing with us, so the emphasis is on ‘inclusion’ – we look to welcome new members, but you do have to able to sing!
Members can take part in as many or as few projects as they would like to participate in. We offer many opportunities from local projects to international tours.
The choir does not operate in terms, and runs throughout the year, so there is never a better time to join the choir, and no benefit in waiting to start at any particular point. Simply join when you’re ready!
No. Around 80% of members have learnt to read and understand music from being in the choir. We do not use lyric sheets or learn ‘by rote’ – we work with full choral scores, so whilst it certainly helps to sight-read, it is not a requirement to join.
We offer a simple monthly membership paid by Direct Debit. Membership discounts are available for students in full-time education (verification required). We will run through all the details with you at your Taster Session.
