So Wikipedia tells me that the top range of a tenor is C5. Should a 1st tenor be able to hit this with a full voice or is a bit of upper register allowed? I’m a bit new to the vocal lingo, but would this be mixed voice?

A ‘true’ tenor may be able to reach a B/C as part of their regular voice without the need of falsetto. But of course there are no set rules.

Thanks Russell. In the context of NSC do you want to hear ‘true’ tenors only or slightly false(tto) ones are ok?

        Generally, chest voice is preferred.

          Thanks, I shall practise appropriately!
